In Caesarea Philippi Jesus asks his disciples the question that cuts right to the point: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter’s answer is simple and Spirit‑given: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus names this confession as the rock on which the church will stand. Not Peter’s perfection, not human strength, but the truth of who Jesus is. This passage invites us to return to that question in our own lives. Amid competing claims on our attention, faith begins again each time we say quietly or boldly who Jesus is to us. From that confession, the church receives its calling: to open doors and live as people shaped by the living God.
