Breakfast Conversations

John 21:1-19 recounts a powerful post-resurrection encounter between Jesus and His disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. After a night of unsuccessful fishing, Jesus appears on the shore and instructs them to cast their nets on the right side of the boat, leading to a miraculous catch of fish.

Recognizing Jesus, Peter eagerly jumps into the water to reach Him.  Once ashore, Jesus shares a meal with His disciples, reinforcing His continued presence and care. He then engages Peter in a profound conversation, asking him three times if he loves Him—mirroring Peter’s earlier threefold denial. Each time Peter affirms his love, Jesus commissions him to “feed My lambs” and “tend My sheep,” signifying Peter’s restored role as a leader in the early church. Jesus also foretells Peter’s future martyrdom, calling him once more to follow Him.

This passage shows that Jesus continues to guide and empower His followers even after His resurrection.
