Our Gospel for today contains the parable of the prodigal son, one of Jesus’ most well-known teachings.  The story unveils a deeply spiritual message through the parable of the prodigal son. In this story, Jesus paints a divine picture of God’s boundless love and grace. The narrative begins with a younger son who demands his inheritance, turning away from his father’s care. As he indulges in reckless living, he descends into despair, ultimately losing everything. Broken and repentant, he decides to return home.  This will confuse and anger his brother.

When the son comes home his father runs to meet him, embracing him with unconditional love. Instead of judgment, the father celebrates his return with joy, hosting a feast to mark the moment. This mirrors God’s unending mercy and the heavenly celebration when a sinner repents and returns to His embrace.  Spiritually, this parable reflects themes of forgiveness, redemption, and renewal. It assures us that no matter how far we stray, God’s love is steadfast, ready to restore and welcome us home. It calls on believers to reflect that same grace and compassion, recognizing that we are all held in God’s loving hands. Isn’t that a beautiful assurance?

Come and be with us on Sunday, March 23 as we reflect on repentance and God’s mercy in Luke’s Gospel. We invite you to Come and See! Worship begins at 10 am. You can participate in worship via Facebook and YouTube as well as Zoom Meeting ID: 832 5245 9863
