The Transfiguration

The Transfiguration of Jesus Christ was a singular revelation of His divine essence and an insight into the splendor He possessed before His incarnation. It’s easy to be tempted, when considering the Transfiguration, to desire mountain-top’ experiences with God,

Some Christians spend their lives longing for such striking encounters with God, only to feel disheartened when they don’t occur. Dramatic experiences of God are uncommon—even for saints like St. Peter, and for both ordinary and extraordinary believers alike.   The account of the Transfiguration isn’t intended to suggest that everyone will have a mountain-top experience with God. Rather, it’s meant to unveil the true identity of Jesus to us. Jesus chose Peter, James, and John to accompany Him to pray.  On the mountain top, Christ’s divinity is revealed to them through the brilliant light and in the Garden of Gethsemane we see his humanity fully exposed through the agony they witness.

Our worship service begins at 10am on Sunday. All are welcome either in-person or on-line on Facebook and YouTube.   The bulletin can be found on this website in the virtual bulletin tab. We look forward to seeing you as we travel with Jesus!
