Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. These words from Isaiah chapter 40 help us to focus our attention on the peace that is ours to receive.
Isaiah reminds the listener that despite all the burdens we face, God is eternal. The poetic images allow one to let go of that which imprisons or overwhelms us. Isaiah’s passage is about the peace that comes from the comfort of God, the image of being held in the everlasting arms of God.
The power of God is one compassion. We can, join in the journey and be part of this dream of God. For God is in the midst of every moment offering the possibility of peace beyond our imagining.
