In our readings this week, we are reminded that God is not a distant entity separated from humanity. On the contrary, we worship a God who has entered human history and continues to journey with us each and every day. We celebrate God’s gift, as we remember the presentation of Jesus, forty days after his birth. This time of reflection is called Candlemas.
In Luke 2, we ready the story of Joseph and Mary completing the rites following the birth of their first male child according to Mosaic Law. After they completed the rites, Joseph and Mary were approached by a man named Simeon, whom God had promised would live until he saw the Messiah. Simeon prophesied that Jesus would be “a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel”
That light that came to us then is ours today. Let the light shine!
Our worship service begins at 10am on Sunday. All are welcome either in-person or on-line. The bulletin can be found on this website in the virtual bulletin tab. We look forward to seeing you as we travel with Jesus!
