The question Jesus asks in Mark 3:33 is Who are my mother and my brothers? This cuts to the heart of Mediterranean society: family is everything.
Jesus’ answer is found in verses 34-35: You all here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.
Those who are connected to him are not those born in the flesh as His family. Jesus does not say that he disowns his mother and his brothers. He does not say, “They are not my family.”
He does not throw his family out, rather than sending them away, he welcomes the crowd. Those who gather around him, seated at his feet, attentive to his words, and placing their faith in Him.
Join us on Sunday as we reflect of the meaning of family for Jesus. We begin worship at 10 am. All are welcome either in-person or on-line. The bulletin can be found on this website in the virtual bulletin tab. We look forward to seeing you!
