“The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” The depiction of Jesus as our Good Shepherd has always been so comforting.
It’s one thing to lay one’s life down for someone else, especially if it is someone close to you or someone you appreciate. It is quite another thing to do it for an enemy or for others who don’t deserve it or even want it. The amazing thing is that anyone would give up his life for another deserving person. The really wonderful thing is that the Good Shepherd would give his life for sheep like you and me!
