They should therefore not be caught up in either the excessive pleasures or worries of the day but rather remain watchful. At the same time, Christians should be confident, eager for the events Jesus describes as they signal the approach of the deliverance of the Christian community.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus is promising his disciples that there will come a time of great tribulation, trial and testing. \u00a0Luke writes <em>\u201cThen they will see \u2018the Son of Man coming in a cloud\u2019 with power and great glory<\/em><em>\u201d<\/em>. Such a sign of Son of Man coming is a sign of hope for communities who are in deep distress and suffering.<\/p>\n<p>Advent, therefore, as a \u2018time of waiting\u2019 is an affirmation of the \u2018nearness of God\u2019 for our time.\u00a0 \u00a0Advent unsettles our notions of a God high above the clouds and seeks to transform it to the as \u2018Son of Man coming in a cloud,\u2019 coming near to the creation and its creatures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Join us on Sunday as we continue on the journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We begin worship at 10 am.\u00a0 All are welcome either in-person or on-line.\u00a0 \u00a0The bulletin can be found on this website in the virtual bulletin tab.
