Mary Visits Elizabeth<\/span><\/h4>\n

39\u00a0<\/sup>At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea,<\/span>\u00a040\u00a0<\/sup>where she entered Zechariah\u2019s home and greeted Elizabeth.<\/span>\u00a041\u00a0<\/sup>When Elizabeth heard Mary\u2019s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.<\/span>\u00a042\u00a0<\/sup>In a loud voice she exclaimed: \u201cBlessed are you among women and blessed is the child you will bear!<\/span>\u00a043\u00a0<\/sup>But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord\u00a0should come to me?<\/span>\u00a044\u00a0<\/sup>As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.<\/span>\u00a045\u00a0<\/sup>Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mary\u2019s Song<\/span><\/h4>\n

46\u00a0<\/sup>And Mary said: <\/span>\u201cMy soul glorifies the Lord <\/span>and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

48\u00a0<\/sup>for he has been mindful o<\/span>f the humble state of his servant.<\/span><\/span>
\nFrom now on all generations will call me blessed,<\/span>
\n49 <\/sup>for the Mighty One has done great things for me <\/span><\/span>holy is his name.<\/span><\/span>
\n50\u00a0<\/sup>His mercy extends to those who fear him, <\/span>from generation to generation.<\/span><\/span>
\n51\u00a0<\/sup>He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; <\/span>he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.<\/span><\/span>
\n52\u00a0<\/sup>He has brought down rulers from their thrones <\/span>but has lifted up the humble.<\/span><\/span>
\n53\u00a0<\/sup>He has filled the hungry with good things b<\/span>ut has sent the rich away empty.<\/span><\/span>
\n54\u00a0<\/sup>He has helped his servant Israel, <\/span>remembering to be merciful<\/span><\/span>
\n55\u00a0<\/sup>to Abraham and his descendants forever, j<\/span>ust as he promised our ancestors.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

56\u00a0<\/sup>Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.<\/span><\/p>\n
