{"id":3170,"date":"2022-10-09T18:25:44","date_gmt":"2022-10-09T18:25:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stbartshhk.com\/?p=3170"},"modified":"2022-10-09T22:29:08","modified_gmt":"2022-10-09T22:29:08","slug":"family-bible-study-october-9-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stbartshhk.com\/?p=3170","title":{"rendered":"Family Bible Study October 9, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Welcome to Family Bible Study\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Psalm 111-The Message Translation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0Hallelujah!<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>I give thanks to God with everything I\u2019ve got\u2014<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Wherever good people gather, and in the congregation.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>God\u2019s works are so great, worth<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>A lifetime of study\u2014endless enjoyment!<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Splendor and beauty mark his craft;<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>His generosity never gives out.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>His miracles are his memorial\u2014<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>This God of Grace, this God of Love.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He gave food to those who fear him,<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He remembered to keep his ancient promise.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He proved to his people that he could do what he said:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Hand them the nations on a platter\u2014a gift!<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He manufactures truth and justice;<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>All his products are guaranteed to last\u2014<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Never out-of-date, never obsolete, rust-proof.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>All that he makes and does is honest and true:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He paid the ransom for his people,<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He ordered his Covenant kept forever.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He\u2019s so personal and holy, worthy of our respect.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The good life begins in the fear of God\u2014<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Do that and you\u2019ll know the blessing of God.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>His Hallelujah lasts forever!<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Psalm 111 is classified as an Individual Hymn of Thanksgiving, a psalm type in which the singer gives thanks for God\u2019s goodness in delivering him\/her from the challenges of life.<\/p>\n<p>The psalm begins with \u201challelujah,\u201d initiating a whole series of psalms (Psalms 111-118) in which the word \u201challelujah\u201d is found.<\/p>\n<p>Verse 1 of Psalm 111 suggests that its words are those of an individual worshiper giving thanks to God in a public setting of worship;<\/p>\n<p>Verses 2-4 of Psalm 111 describe God\u2019s \u201cworks\u201d and \u201cwonderful deeds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In verses 5-9, the psalmist outlines, in brief descriptive phrases, the works and wonderful deeds of God. In verse 5, God gives \u201cfood,\u201d a reference perhaps to the giving of the manna and quail in the Wilderness (Exodus 16 and Numbers 11). Verse 6\u2019s \u201cthe inheritance of the nations\u201d suggests God\u2019s giving of the Promised Land to the Israelites (Deuteronomy 6-7). And verse 9\u2019s reference to \u201cdeliverance\u201d summarizes the actions of God in the Exodus and Wilderness wanderings.<\/p>\n<p>Verse 9 concludes with the words \u201cHis Hallelujah lasts forever\u201d God\u2019s covenant and God\u2019s name are foundational traditions of ancient Israel.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><em><strong>Adapted from -www.workingpreacher.org\/commentaries\/revised-common-lectionary<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n<p><strong>Question for family sharing-What gifts has your family received from God?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click on this image and open in new window.\u00a0 Print it out and have fun coloring!\u00a0 God Loves You!
